Blue Star Jets and Wyvern Launch Charter Safety Program
NEW YORK, Aug. 8, 2005 Blue Star Jets, LLC, the largest U.S. air charter
broker, has retained New Jersey-based Wyvern Consulting Ltd., a global provider
of general aviation safety evaluations, which has performed over 1,200 independent
audits of Part 135 charter operators, to develop, implement and oversee a new
charter, Web-based safety program. More than 300 charter operators utilized
by Blue Star Jets clients, are required to input data into Blue Star Jets
secured database that will catalog maintenance, aircraft, safety, training and
aircrew that are under their operational control. Wyvern will examine operators
and render a decision of which aircraft and aircrew that may be utilized by
Blue Star Jets operators, with scrutiny as to which crewmembers may act
as pilot-in-command and second-in-command.
In evaluating operators, Wyvern will ensure that each operator provides Blue Star Jets customers with higher aircraft and aircrew safety standards. In the companys 14-year history, Wyvern has maintained a zero fatality record on all Wyvern compliant Part 135 flights flown domestically and internationally. In developing Blue Star Jets safety program, The Wyvern Standard will be used as a benchmark for safety; all operators will follow higher safety standards that far exceed minimums required by the Federal Aviation Administration when providing flights to Blue Star Jets customers.
Additional components of the agreement include Wyverns development and implementation of safety standards and systems, policy and procedures development, training and fulfillment consulting services to Blue Star Jets personnel and performance monitoring. This support is designed to ensure all members of the Blue Star Jets team will understand and utilize the systems for each and every flight flown by charter operators for Blue Star Jets customers.
Howard Moses, COO of Blue Star Jets, confirmed that several operators have begun inputting data into the systems database, and forecast the programs soft launch October 1, promising it would be fully operational by November 1.
Once the trip, aircraft and crew information is entered into the system, an authorization will be issued, which is based on the evaluation of hundreds of fields of information, Moses said. The database will house information on more than 2500 aircraft and 7,000 crewmembers; data on each operators aircraft and aircrew will be updated multiple times each day. Were proud to have Wyvern as a partner in the development and execution of this industry leading safety program. Were certain that Wyvern will execute this program flawlessly, and with the same eye to detail that has allowed them to be recognized as the premier Part 135 auditing agency. By coupling Blue Star Jets superior customer service with Wyverns outstanding safety service, our customers will receive the best charter experience the industry can provide.
Walter D. Lamon, president and CEO of Wyvern, said he was pleased about the agreement with Blue Star Jets. This is a substantial investment and commitment by Blue Star Jets, he said. We believe through our analysis and expertise, using Wyverns safety systems and methodology, Blue Star Jets will be able to offer a higher level of safety on Part 135 flights to its customers. The combination of safety and customer service is the real value proposition offered by the charter broker community.
Blue Star Jets offers its clientele unparalleled service, and with its new safety program, Moses said it would enhance the companys existing safety and security policy. Blue Star Jets' mission is to supply clients with an alternative to the high costs of fractional ownership and charter card membership programs, and to deliver quality, consistency and the highest level of professionalism, he said.
Moses said to maximize the advantage of the companys extensive domestic and international network, Blue Star Jets maintains an existing proprietary operational system, which locates optimal aircraft for specific travel needs and budget, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. And with four hours notice, Blue Star Jets will provide clients with their plane of choice at over 5,000 private airports across the U.S. and internationally.
Wyvern, with additional offices in London and Russia, works closely with Fortune 100 companies, corporate Part 91 flights departments, fractional providers and charter brokers worldwide, to develop and monitor safety assurance and risk management programs that meet the requirements of the most sophisticated and demanding travelers.
