Hamptons Diary.
Its
the countdown to summer camp - with a difference. Wealthy Hamptons parents
wanting to check out tony camps for their kids have been skipping the
long drive and chartering jets that hop them from maine to Pennsylvania
to the Berkshires and upstate New York all in one day.
The
aviation firm, Blue Star Jets, has already made 18 day trips this month
to camps, including Laurel in Maine, and Tyler Hills in and Trail Ends
in Pennsylvania.
The
parents haven't been balking at the price of the trips, some splashing
out $4,000 an hour. It covers the flight, onboard catering and a waiting
car to whisk themn from the tarmac to the woods.
This
way they can catch a jet in West Hampton or East Hampton at breakfast
time and be back on the East End in time for cocktails.
And
with the kids now preparing to set off to the camps themselves Mom and
Dad have started booking jets to take them to the camps again for visiting
day.
